I’m drawn to bold flow-y prints lately. I’m not completely sure if it’s a brocade style or damask style (I’m finding conflicting info on Wikipedia), but this basket from Sew Gracious is the inspiration for my new obsession.
(Reversible storage basket from Sew Gracious can hold about 10 DVDs.)
I think part of the allure of this type of print is that its very chameleon-like. It can skew masculine if necessary or be as girly as it wants. It can be light and airy or heavy and serious. Many wedding invitations use this type of print, making it a staple for formality, but it can be dressed down as well.
(This shipping label from Bohtieque gives a classic print a little edge.)
(Sophisticated and rustic browns from PoshGirl Boutique.)
(These cupcake tags are part of a downloadable and printable set that include napkin and candle rings, menu, and gift tag from Paper And Cake.)
(I love the aqua blue design from Michelle Brusegaard. It’s elegant and modern.)
It’s funny because I like simple patterns, stripes, argyle, and polka dots (love polka dots!) but on the flip side I like the damask /brocade style. Many are simple but full of details.
